New UK BOINC Team Magic Eye Pix! (+ js code to generate)..
MagicEye is a JS library for generating "Magic Eye" images via single-image random dot stereograms, or SIRDS.
If you were not about in the 1980's you may not know what these are.. Basically these are images (see below) with 3D images hidden in them!!
To see the image, let your eyes fuzz, like you have gone cross eyed for 20 seconds, then slowly bring your view back into focus.
Hey presto (from the image below) you now have a 3D space which has a group of triangles in it!!
Please note some people can see these, others can not; the classic example is from the film "Mall-rats"..
You can download this Javascript library to generate these Magic Eye images from Github!

Damed if I can ever see anything in these - Never seen one yet! Reckon its some sort of conspiracy thing going on where people say they see something but they don't really.
I won't fall for it! You're all imagining it!

Hi Mike,
OK my mistake it would seem that everyone with normal eyes should be able to see these.
"If one has two eyes, fairly healthy eyesight, and no neurological conditions which prevent the perception of depth then one is capable of learning to see the images within autostereograms. "Like learning to ride a bicycle or to swim, some pick it up immediately, while others have a harder time. It may be easier for first-time autostereogram viewers to "see" their first 3D images if they attempt this feat with bright lighting."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autostereogram
If you have ever stared into space while thinking without any focus on what is infront of you, that is what you are trying to achieve here. Try to look from both eyes, as in 2 different views, at a space of around 10 cm below the image. You will know if you are achieving this as your view will go fuzzy. Once your view is fuzzed out then slowly bring it back into focus and the 3D scene will jump out at you, its like you have a VR headset on!
I guess the situation is like floaters, some people can easily see them, others can not. See below for what these floaters, and magic eye images look like..

"Magic Eye"
"Magic Eye 2"
3D Magic Eye + Animated Magic Eye!!!

Well I've tried for the last 15 minutes again - may as well watch static on a TV screen as far as I'm concerned
Mrs. Mikee bought me a book of these a few years ago, so it's not for lack of trying - bloody waste of money.
Mind you, the 5 images above I can see straight away!

The moving one is pretty neat. I've never seen a moving one before.
