Threat to High-Def Freeview broadcasts

Hi all,

Seems OFCOM want to auction off the available RF spectrum that will be freed up, as and when analogue TV is switched off.

And in so doing, they will sell to the highest bidder. As such, there's no guarantee that a Free-to-view, High-Def service would become available, esp. if you consider that the BBC will also have to bid for some of the spectrum, if they wanted to expand the BBC-HD service (only way to receive otherwise would be via satellite or cable).

There's a good article here:

http://www.ertweekly.com/Default.aspx.L ... ang-EN.htm

and if you want to complain, then download this:

There's only 2 months to go (until 20th March) when ministers will decide to go ahead with OFCOM's plan...

(If ministers think they can "cash in" on the available spectrum, in the same way as they did for mobile spectrum, then they better think again...!)

regards

Tim

I got cable don't care

It will go ahead regardless what people have to say about it, money talks when lots of it is available
