Private messaging problem

I have received a couple of private messages, no problem with that. But, when I've replied to them, the outgoing messages have stayed sat in my out-box, and haven't gone into the "sent" box.
Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

At a guess I would say that whom ever you have messaged has not yet seen nor read your PM, I could be wrong as I'm a know nothing Frog but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me.
Gary.

As already mentioned, the forum retains the PM that you send, in your own "outbox" until such time as the message is read, as which point it is "transferred" to your "sent" box and to the recipients "inbox".
Might be an idea to send the relevant party a new PM and hopefully, if they check the top of the forum "page" they will see that another new message has arrived for them....
Sadly, there is no way to force people to check for messages in their "inbox". 8)
Of course, it might be that the member(s) hasn't logged onto the forum for a while in which case, unless they ticked the relevant preferences in the "notifications" section of their "profile" (so that the forum generates an email to send to them, when someone else tries to get in touch with them), they they might not even know that you've replied....!
regards,
Tim

Thats something I've noticed.
If you login and have new PMs but don't read them and logout, the next time you login those PMs are no longer "new" and it tells you "You have no new messages"
Anyway of changing it so it could say "You have x unread messages"?

I'll have to ask Darren if that's an option in the phpBB software.
If it is, then will ask to implement it.
Of course, there might be such a "mod" available and then it's a question of whether it would "break" one of the mods currently installed.
Will advise once I hear back.

Tim

Its a design feature, as far as I know it can't really be altered, I have mine to pop up a box when there is a PVT message that way I can't forget about them

I think I have changed the link to say....
You have no new messages (X unread)
If you have no unread then that bit will not appear.
I won't do a popup for it because that would be too annoying!
If someone could please let me know if this new bit works I would appreciate it.

Hi Darren,
OK, when I logged in, it said I had "1 new message".
I then went to my Inbox, but didn't ready anything.
Then went back to forum front page and the message changed to:
You have no new messages (1 unread message)
which it still says now.
I guess once I go back to my inbox and read your "don't open" PM, that it'll change...
Yup - works a treat - as soon as I read the message, then it changes to "no new messages", so it looks like you've cracked it (again !!)....Well done and thanks.
regards,
Tim

I can't really take any credit for this because the main code was already there but not being displayed.
I just changed the link to display the extra information.
