As you are probably aware today is 'Earth Hour'. Not sure about the rest but i'm going to do my bit, no lights on what so ever.

Even google are promoting this one as you can see when you visit the google uk homepage.

Anyone else going to try and make a difference?

First I had heard of it, don't think I will be sitting in the dark but I may switch the DVD off if I am not using it.

Even if we can just switch off a few things each, maybe not every single light.. But anything that doesn't need to be on can be turned off which can make a big difference when you think of the amount of people that will be taking part.

So i think even my BOINC crunching will stop for the hour, and at the end of the day what is 60 mins, compared with the few days of the last attempted big switch off around the world which hardly anyone knew about?

Think i may take a trip down the pub!  :P

Good point fellie, but i think there is already enough education about the subject already (schools, all over the papers etc) and it's just people chose not to or more likely 'can't be bothered' a lot of the time.

As for goods? Well i suppose greed of the major businesses such as Tesco which seem to think that shipping stuff all the way around the world from China, and places like that just because it is "cheaper" doesn't help one of the cause. Personally I'd rather pay the bit extra for things and make a difference.

But good on you for drinking the red wine

To true, you generally get what you pay for in this field ...

Bit of a Bosch man myself, not had an issue with a single thing yet ..

Im trying my hardest to get the kids to turn lights out when not needed ( even though were fully energy bulbed up ) , just as a simple education, at 5 and 12, they don't have anything from school that makes them understand ...

Oh the red wine ... its Californian LOL............
