Anyone know of any optimised app for Einstein? Wu's taking just under three hours atm, and would like to speed it up a bit... All in a good cause of course! :D

I believe that both of these projects require WUs to be validated, so it might be an idea to start switching over ahead of time if you're not already running them.

Sorry I haven't been 'on top' of this Challenge, work is getting a little crazy at the moment!

We herewith announce the 1st project in the discipline of Physics & Chemistry.

The relevant project is Einstein@Home. All credits granted between
05/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) and
10/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) will be taken into the BOINC Pentathlon validation. Please note that with a lot of projects it usually takes a while before credits are granted! The statistics for this project can be found here:

http://www.setigermany.de/boinc_pentath ... ziplinid=1

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We herewith announce the 2nd project in the discipline of Astronomy.

The relevant project is MilkyWay@home. All credits granted between
09/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) and
14/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) will be taken into the BOINC Pentathlon validation. Please note that with a lot of projects it usually takes a while before credits are granted! The statistics for this project can be found here:

http://www.setigermany.de/boinc_pentath ... ziplinid=3

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We herewith announce the 3rd project in the discipline of Alternative.

The relevant project is FreeHAL@home. All credits granted between
10/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) and
15/05/2010, 0.00 (UTC) will be taken into the BOINC Pentathlon validation. Please note that with a lot of projects it usually takes a while before credits are granted! The statistics for this project can be found here:

http://www.setigermany.de/boinc_pentath ... ziplinid=2

==================================================

I'll post the other two projects as they are announced on the Pentathlon blog site. Before anyone asks, yes the dates are correct, I've double checked them and altered them to UK style, ie dd/mm/yyyy. The idea is to put team members on their strongest projects to score more for their team over the five projects.

To me that means MilkyWay is a pain in the butt for those of us who don't have ATI cards! Image

Also means that I'll only be able to do Einstein and FreeHal as I'll be away for the last 2 projects.

A good idea, Mr Random :D

I started d/loading Einstein earlier tonight and they took an age to come through. I suspect the other teams are getting ready for the start of the Pentathlon tonight!

Do what you can, Mikee, it all helps! :D

I'll not be doing the Milkyway wu's very much as I don't have a GPU card.

Its changed now !!!! TSBT are now the bottom of the pile !

{EDIT}  Probably does not help that the servers have also been down for some time and I for one am finding it difficult to upload results?

Same here, Mark - it seems to have been very hit and miss for the last 24 hours. I had some files that took a couple of hours to download, too - although fortunately they were only going into the queue.

Well that's weirder as they had points before! Now we got.... 3!

Manually adding the scores, we get 30.3 which takes us to 16th place.

I've been forcing uploads/downloads for a few days now.

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/apps.php

That lists Cuda Apps as well. Give it a try, I think I have used the Cuda before but its not the fastest app in the world?

There are, as Timby points out, apps for CUDA GPUs as well as ATIs, but there are also apps for CPUs too, and it all counts towards the teams total.

Sorry about missing the start but am crunching MW on all 3 quad boxes and 1 gtx295. Will try to keep switching as best i can to help as much as i can :)
I have tried collatz on the gtx295 but it errors out of at least 50 percent of tasks :(

I know it's been a controversial project for the team, but I hope as many of you as possible are crunching FreeHal@home in the background now!  :D

EDIT: Or not, as the case may be! No work available

Good call, Bob!  :D

Both FH and MW(cpu) giving plenty of work out now. How's the MW(gpu) going?

Posted: Mon May 10, 2010 10:59 pm

Seems OK Melter at my end on both projects, plenty of MW for the Ati's and for the Nvidia cards that have the ability to handle MW, FH I have virtually no experiance with and seems a bit patchy? but am still steaming on, feels like a V8 running on 5 cylinders

I ask because on FH we are 18th and TSBT are 16th, but we got 800 credits/hr more that them in the last hour!

TSBT are now joint 13th place overall, while we are joint 15th. That's only one place difference and we're outproducing them on at least two projects!

Only seven days to go, we need to go all out on Collatz and Rosetta. Let's make finishing above the Scots our main target now!

Posted: Mon May 17, 2010 4:44 pm
by melter65
The final project, Rosetta, is now on it's own in the last leg of the Pentathlon. The bad news is that TSBT are now four places above us, so we need a good showing from Rosetta if we are to beat them!

260,000 wu at Rosetta to hit ... I wonder if the database will be drained the same as FreeHal's was over the Pentathalon

68,000 left now ...

Yet http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/ states:
Server Status as of 18 May 2010 9:34:47 UTC
[ Scheduler running ]
Total queued jobs: 4,038,489

So I'm not sure what wu's there are, but if 200k left the database in 11 hours, surely a lot of boincers are filling their cache ready for the pentathalon

I know I have lol

If they have been filling their caches, then I fear they are a little late since the pentathlon ends in around seven hours time.

The Boinc Pentathlon is over and UBT are 20th= on 117 points which is great.  :D  Well done guys you've done the UK proud :wav:

But, who is the top UK team for this elite competition? Well, knock me down with a spurtle of shortbread, if The Scottish Boinc Team haven't provided the premier UK performance with 126 points and 17th= place!    Yes, we're pleased for us too! :wav:
