UK BOINC Team - Your Team Needs You!

Ok - considering it is:
a) nearly Christmas, and is the time for good deeds, ; and
b) 100 years since WWI, and a lot of war memorabilia is around (Including Lord Kitchener's "WE NEED YOU" posters),

I think it is time we had a huge push on recruitment, and spread the good work of UBT to others - anyone have any suggestions on how?

I volunteer....

for Chris to be our recruitment officer!

It's been a few years since we had this thought before, with no success.

Problem is that there are very few outlets where we can find like minded people to approach. Tim did manage to get a radio interview on Radio Shropshire a few years ago - http://forum.ukboincteam.com/viewtopic. ... ight=radio
I think someone was going to try to write an article for 'Computer Active' but nothing came of that either - that might be a goer if someone has the know how of how to do it.

That's good to hear, Mikee :D

And to get the recruitment process kicked off, click this link: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/v ... rId=951561 to join World Community Grid (WCG) for our team! WCG is currently Fighting AIDs, Outsmarting Ebola, and Mapping Cancer Markers, to name a few. So, come along and join the party at WCG!!

Nice one!

Just found the WCG recruitment thread - hasn't been updated for years,  perhaps you could do an update for that?

Hi Chris,

Excellent work :)

Furthermore, if you want, you could visit as many BOINC project message boards and put up a posting for UBT on their "Team Recruitment" section.

I have to say though, that mostly it will fall on deaf ears - as most crunchers tend to stay with a Team for a long time...a bit like bank accounts, where people set them up and keep them for ages (I've had my personal account with the same bank over 30 years !!).

New crunchers are more likely to join up, so you need to make sure that whatever posting you make is friendly, informative and straightforward.

regards
Tim

I'm in some certain groups focussing on the fundamentals of interstellar travel on Facebook. With Milkyway and Asteroids being a pivotal role to the navigation of an interstellar ship I decided to share Milkyway's home page and the pro's of crunching. Some of the folks on there are die hard enthusiasts and will do all the can to help the cause.

You never know we may just get one or two newbies from it.

Hopefully it helps  :)

that's perfect, rich - that's EXACTLY what we're looking for :D could you even post UBT's name, so if they joined, they would join us and help the credits??

I'll mention it in my next post on there. Some of the topics really spur on heavy debates so it'll be easy enough.

I don't know if there's a list of website, but this page lists all active projects and clicking on each takes you to their website; http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/team/list/
